Trending 5.20.16

I am lucky enough to see one of my besties from Saint Mary's College today and this weekend! I am writing this before Metra-ing it downtown on my personal day. I cannot wait to reunite with Courtney and her husband, Mark! I've known Court since we were sophomores at SMC living in Holy Cross Hall! I always say this, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart: Court is one of the smartest people I know. She has not one, but TWO undergrad degrees-- one from SMC and a civil engineering degree from Notre Dame. Talk about brilliant! More on Court's visit once we spend the weekend together. For now, here is what's trending in my world!

[1.0] These Kendra Scott earrings have been on my wish list for quite some time. My friends Melissa and Jackie have some KS jewelry, so I have been picking their brains for advice lately. I think the yellow pair is my favorite! What a perfect summer staple. Check out the magenta and Kelly green, too. Swoon!

[2.0] This summer version of my favorite J. Crew Factory jumper! I love this fit-and-flare style SO much. I have three different colors of this dress, and I think this white with multi would be the best addition to my summer 'drobe. There's a huge sale this weekend at J. Crew Factory stores, so I will definitely be visiting our local outlet!

[3.0] I am obsessed with these tassel earrings from J. Crew. J. Crew's earring selection right now is incredible! However, some of the earrings look too heavy for my already-hurting earlobes. (Note to self: don't get your ears pierced at the Piercing Pagoda in the local mall. It may cause uneven holes and future re-piercing efforts). These are much lighter weight than some of the other stunners J. Crew has currently.

[4.0] I really do want to embrace the off-the-shoulder trend, but I have issues with the shirt slipping up to over my shoulder. Here is an ideal alternative without the hassle! This weekend with the 50% off sale, the tank will be around $25! Obsessed!

[5.0] This pineapple shirt makes me soooo happy! How cute will it be tucked into a pencil skirt? Megan, you need this! (My bff LOVES her pineapples!). Would also pair swimmingly with the Kendra Scott earrings. #JustSayin'

[6.0] Equally as amazing: this tangerine work shirt! I can't get over how adorable this is! Mike got me an apple-printed collared shirt for my birthday a few years ago, and I love wearing it to work.

[7.0] This linen dress from Ann Taylor is calling my name. How cute would that look (in white) for a night out this summer (once I'm tan-- haha!)?  Mike booked a 1-year anniversary trip for us to head north to Michigan wine country, and I'm pretty sure this would be ideal for the wineries!

[8.0] I'm such a sucker for peplum. I'm an even bigger sucker for the color blush. And I am the biggest sucker for some LACE!  This top has it all. Must purchase ASAP! Currently 40% off! With white jeans and nude pumps, you're set for dinner on a patio!

[9.0] I love stripes for the summer. The only thing that makes stripes better is if they're multicolored. OMG, Loft! Absolutely loving this top.

[10.0] Okay, this last trending piece might be a total snoozefest to some readers (lol!), but this crisp white collared shirt is a STAPLE and a must-have for the summer! It's so much easier to wear a sleeveless collared shirt under blazers and cardigans, in my opinion.  I am a huge proponent of the collared sleeveless shirt under cardigans, year-round. My biggest regret about my jewel-collared sleeveless shirt (pictured below) is that I didn't get it in all the colors! And it hasn't come back since!

My Goddaughter, Bryn, and our ring bearer and cousin, Jack, meeting Finn for the first time on Mother's Day!

The youngest Chicago cousin with the oldest and wisest, Rose!

A simple white collared shirt can go a long way!

What's on your wishlist right now? I can't wait to hit up the 50% off Pre-Memorial Day sale at the J. Crew Factory outlet! Yippeeee!! Have a wonderful weekend! Courtney and Mark, here I come!!
xxoo

  1. Mary, your comment about Piercing Pagoda made me LOL! Question, do you ever shop at New York and Company? I'd love to hear what you think if you do!

    1. haha!! I was so young and thought Piercing Pagoda was a good choice. I was sadly mistaken. LOL! I have never bought anything from New York & Co., but my bestie from home, Jamie, is a huge lover of all things NY&Co! She has really cute pieces from them!
