These are the top ten pairs of shoes you need for the holiday season and beyond. You are going to absolutely DROOL over these options! From tartan to sparkles, every shoe on my trending report will have you humming Christmas carols and ordering yourself a peppermint mocha.
[1.0] Scalloped and suede: what a combo!
These flats are perfect for a cute pair of cropped pants or a skirt. They are totally channeling the covet-able Chloe flats (but at a fraction of the price). Also, they're 40% off! I want the red! Or navy! (Or both!)
[2.0] These pumps with a glittery heel!
I spotted these on the J. Crew Factory website and audibly gasped! They are currently 50% off, and they are just breathtaking. These beauts are very similar to the very expensive (but gorgeous) Kate Spade Sela pumps. To be honest, the Factory ones look soooo much more comfortable and versatile!
[3.0] The Isabelle Jeweled pump.
These are TO DIE FOR! And 50% off! They will make a statement at work or on the weekend. Think about pairing these with an LBD for your work Christmas party! I love the black kitten-heeled version, too! SO classy and fabulous.
[4.0] Suede, scalloped Mary Janes. I can't even!
The chunky heel makes these so comfortable for work. Check out that Merlot color, too! One of my all-time favorite pantone colors of the year. Oh, and they're 50% OFF! Ah!!!!
[5.0] These crystal-studded block heels.
Using code "celebrate", you'll snag these stunners for 50%, too! The block heel is not only amazingly comfortable, but it is coming back into style in a hurry! I love any shoes I can teach in; these fit the bill! I envision these with a cropped pant (maybe a pair of Winnies) and a tartan collared shirt tucked in. Tis the season to wow everyone with your shoes!
[6.0] Tory Burch Minnie flats.
I own 3 pairs of these flats, you guys, and I would love to own 30 more. LOL. I am not kidding you-- you can stand in them all day with no discomfort. The Minnie version folds over (they have a split sole) for super easy travel/packing. I am looking at the navy pair for a future purchase for myself. But, look at the tortoise shell ones! AH!!! They also last FOREVER. I've had my pairs for an average of 4 years each.
[7.0] Tartan shoes are where it's at.
The entire Talbots website is currently 40% off. You have holiday parties to attend, why not snazz up a black dress with these blackwatch plaid flats? That sparkly bow! Or these pumps?
[8.0] Polka dots, glitter heels, lace up flats. I love everything about this!
J.Crew has never done a 40% off regularly priced items sale until this weekend. The shoes are included in this massive sale, too! Use code HOLIDAY at check out, and grab these glittery-polka-dotted-lace-up pieces of art before they sell out!
[9.0] OTK boots!
Every gal needs a pair of over-the-knee boots for the winter. I was, at first, adamantly opposed to them. I thought there was no way to pull them off without looking like you had questionable morals. HAHA! But I've now found that pairing them with an appropriate outfit makes them even wearable for WORK! These are 50% off from Loft with code FRIYAY! Loving the camel color!
[10.0] These Chanel-look-alike ballerinas.
I have longed for Chanel ballet flats for years. They're stupidly expensive, but boy are they gorgeous. Every fashion blogger I follow seems to have an abundant supply of them. I have found the perfect alternative (50% off, too!) for the teacher's budget. One day, I will own Chanel ballet flats. Until then, these are JUST as fab (and so much more economical). But, a girl can swoon, right?
The best part about shoes is they never get too small or too big. Accessories, like shoes, enhance outfits that you already own. If you're trying to be cognizant about spending on yourself around the holidays (I like to say I am cut off, but it's hard when these sales are SO EPIC!), you can add a pair (or two) of these shoes to your wardrobe, and work them into what you already own.
So the big question is, which are you buying?

Lace Mockneck Top
My dear friend and fellow fashionista, Krista, introduced me to this Loft mock-neck lace top. She works for Kohls in Milwaukee, and she said all the fashion-forward gals were rocking the mock-neck look. I totally trust Krista's judgment, so I hopped over to Loft, and swooped this up! Krista bought the cream version, and I opted for the gray. It was about $30 when I bought it, but it sold out SO fast (rightfully so). I'll be sure to link a lot of other fabulous lace tops. These are great because you can wear any color tank top underneath to switch up the look. I wore my $2 Forever 21 nude tank (yes, $2-- lol-- I bought 3!), but the next time I wear this, I will probably go with a black tank.
This version has such a pretty garnet color!
Also, I am obsessed with this ruffle!
Here are some of my favorite lace and/or mockneck options right now from Ann Taylor. The color palette for fall at AT is BEAUTIFUL!
Loving these options from Asos:
Megan got us these amazing earrings for us to wear as her bridesmaids! Aren't they darling? I've already worn them 3 times this month!
^^^ very low-flying aircraft went overhead. hahaha!
The best jeans I've ever owned.
Black Orchid Denim, from Jori & June!
What's your go-to date night outfit? I wore this for a triple date with our friends Jackie and Pete and Lauren and Scott! We went to Gammon Coach House in Batavia, and it was SO GOOD! I highly recommend it :)

On Becoming a Godmother (x2) and Wrap Dresses!
A little over two years ago, I was asked to be my cousin Bryn's Godmother. I was sooo incredibly honored! Jay and Beth, Bryn's parents, are our cousins, and we just love them so much. They live nearby in St. Charles, which is so great since our parents are back in Ohio. God always has a plan because the fact that I ended up in the western burbs near our "Chicago cousins" is kismet. Here are some pictures from Bryn's baptism in 2014!
^^Me, Beth, Jay and Godfather Danny! With sweet BRYN!
My dress: old Sail to Sable. Similar here.
^^ Bryn was one of our adorable flower girls at our wedding!
^^^ I love this picture (mainly because Mike is just rogue hahaha!)
Last weekend I was given the honor of becoming Finn's Godmother.
^^^ Anna with sweet Finny!
Finn wore a baptismal gown from the early 1900s! My great grandmother made it for my mom's mom, my grandma Audrey. Then my mom and uncle Gery wore it, and both my sister and I wore it, too. Now it's Finny's turn!
The proud parents, my BIL Shawn and Anna with Finn.
Action shot ^^ God bless, Finn!
My Ann Taylor wrap dress is the perfect piece for fall. The navy, blush and pewter are great jewel tones for the autumn months. I love the fit! It's true to size and a bit stretchy. I wore this the first week of school and received so many compliments. It is not too low, which is always my biggest fear with wrap dresses.
Anna and Shawn got married at this church! Isn't it beautiful?
It's called Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Chicago. It was also my church when I lived in the city.
God parents with the proud parents and Finn.
Wrap dresses were the dress of the day. They're perfect for work, and they're incredibly flattering.
My wedges: here. Remember, these wedges have been on heavy rotation since my mom and Gary's wedding in July 2012. That price per wear ratio is amazing. hahaha #justification
Anna's wrap dress: here.
My wrap dress: currently an extra 60% off!
Brendan and myself, the Godparents for Finn Patrick.
This picture would be great if I wasn't kicking my foot out like a weirdo. Haha!
Our family together!
Gar, mom, Mike, me, Finn, Anna, Shawn, Patty and Dad.
I love that Finn nibbled on the heirloom gown the whole time. Hahah! He was SO good! No tears whatsoever.
Sweet baby boy with dad and Patty!
Mom in Lilly & Gary with Finn! Does he just look like a sweet angel?
A similar wrap dress version of mom's Lilly: here.
My favorite Ann Taylor wrap dresses of the season:
More wrap dresses to love:
And if you are doing well and want a high-quality, quintessential wrap dress, get a DVF!!!!
Swoon x 1,000,000. THAT will become an heirloom for any nieces or daughters in your life.

So Long Sweet Summer
I honestly thought this weekend would never come. I have had an extraordinarily long summer break (I am NOT COMPLAINING!) due to my school's renovations, and we are finally heading back with kiddos on Tuesday! I am enjoying every moment of this long weekend; I need to soak up these remaining days.
I know people used to be very adamant about "no white after Labor Day", but I still somewhat abide by that. I like to keep my brightest Lilly dresses for the time between Memorial Day and Labor Day. I do like to bust out my Lilly prints in the spring, just to get my spirits back up from those winter doldrums! :) Usually I just can't rock white in the winter simply because I AM SO PALE!
Friday night we headed to Villa Verone (omg, best Italian food in Geneva, hands down) for dinner al fresco, and we got these pics along the way. So many people at the restaurant (men and women-- haha!) stopped us to tell me they loved my dress! I am all about a comfortable shirtdress. This Lilly Pulitzer shirt dress was originally $168, but I got it for $59 on the After Party sale! It was so incredibly comfortable; it was perfect for eating a feast of a meal (I got the lobster ravioli special and ate every last morsel). I belted it for a more refined look, but it would be great sans belt, too! This is a size small for reference.
My dress is back up to its original price of $168. (Also, I love this print!) But, here, here and here are some great alternatives to avoid that price tag!
I love the detail on this dress. The front is pleated and has buttons.
My TB flats are my live-in shoes for the school year. You can stand in these babies all day with no pain at all. Very comfortable, and they literally last for years!
^^^ Mike's proudest photography moment to date! Hahaha!
My belt is super old/super sale from Gap. But here are some belts to try:
Side note: I am OBSESSED with the below Buttercup shorts by Lilly Pulitzer. I wore these out on Saturday night to visit our friends Laura and Dave. They were $39 on the Lilly P. #afterpartysale -- but, I would absolutely recommend them even at the full price. The scalloped detail is ADORABLE; they're super comfy, too! I tried these exact shorts on in Florida in March, but I had to be stopped. LOL! They are TTS for reference.
Chambray popover shirt: J. Crew Factory
Sandals: Jack Rogers
Here are some transitional shirt dresses to take you into fall:
How did you spend your Labor Day Weekend?
